Generative AI + translation AI + AI avatar to assist tourists 24/7 with 21 supported languages

Akihabara Guide presentation (size B6)

IP DREAM Inc. will be providing a trial for the generative AI and translation AI-based Multilingual AI Concierge: Akihabara Tourism and Disaster Management Guide service from January 6. This service provides domestic and inbound tourists visiting Tokyo’s Akihabara with natural conversational guidance about Akihabara through an AI avatar that can speak 21 languages.
Tourists can use the service immediately by scanning a QR code; there is no pre-registration, no app downloads and no account creation. Only a web browser is needed.

This service is provided as a trial for the Multilingual AI Concierge Project*1 that was adopted as a 2024 Tokyo Data Platform case study project. To make sustainable local information services more practical, we aim to use AI technology to implement and test systems to efficiently collect and automatically learn local data, provide automatic replies in natural speech in multiple languages, and enhance the reliability of tourist guidance in ordinary situations, as well as disaster management guidance to be used in the event of a disaster.

■ About the Multilingual AI Concierge

This service uses VoiceOn® LLM, our AI concierge platform that combines generative and translation AI. When the user scans the QR code and starts the app on their browser, they can converse with the AI avatar using one of 21 languages. Conversations are conducted naturally using speech.

The AI avatar gives replies that accord with the intent behind the user’s questions by consulting training data. Using reliable data focused on tourism and disaster management, collected from local parties rather than random and unreliable information that the Internet is full of, it delivers useful information to tourists visiting unfamiliar places.

The training data (obtained from web, SNS and open data sources) is entirely about Akihabara and is in Japanese. The AI is trained on it without the need for tag editing and such oeprations.
Collecting and entering local data is essential to maintain local information services. We will demonstrate how the relevant data can be prepared without inbound tourism-focused translation work or data editing.

Stealth Internet Service, the cybersecurity service developed by IP DREAM and America’s top cybersecurity company VirnetX (hxxps://virnetx[dot]com/) will be sold in Japan starting December 1, 2022. This service is already being used by organizations in sensitive fields and large corporations in the United States. In Japan, its first version was adopted by the Transportation Safety Board of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for regular use. Using nothing but software, this service helps prevent unauthorized access and data breaches, and provides secure, invisible communications for remote connections. It offers enterprise-level, zero trust security without the complexity of managing multiple credentials.
